Worth a try

The lack of sleep chez 6000 continues. Together with the heat of the day, this child-induced insomnia each night is pushing us to our limits. Even 2¾ year old Alex has called in the Unions who have threatened a “dirty protest” should the regular nocturnal crying from his little sister’s room persist. It’s a horrifying thought.

While down at the Waterfront, and having exhausted (npi) all other legal possibilities of inducing a good night’s sleep, I found this:

Kurt et al lullabyified

They do other bands, too.

Rockabye Baby! transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. The soothing sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron and other instruments will lull your baby into a sweet slumber.

So hopefully, from now on, with the lights out, it’s less dangerous.

(sorry)

  1. Goblin > Hmm. Perhaps. Do you want genius or do you want grunge monster?
    Jury’s out.

Po > Don’t knock glockenspiels. They rock. (in a ding-dongy kinda way).

JHBP > Do you maybe mean Stopayne? That’s now contraindicated in kids under 2 yrs after some “concerning” things happened in the USA involving promethazine and some kids under 2 yrs.

  2. I understand the best thing is Gripe Water. One measure mixed with the same amount of gin does wonders for parental nerves when sipped as needed.

  3. Goblin > OK – listened to the CD and it is uniformly awesome. But it ain’t gonna make a genius or a rocker, believe me.

Emil > Hmm. Plenty of beaches suitable for swimming, fewer suitable for surfing, so the swimmers must bugger off the surfing beaches? Seriously, if you can’t find somewhere to swim in Cape Town, you need help.

    S&B > 😉 Or just a glass of 15 y.o. Uitkyk Potstill brandy.

Lady Fi > I might sleep in the outside room tonight. But she was a little better last night. Haven’t tried the CD on her yet – wanted to check it was suitable. And it is. Very relaxing.

Wiggy > Sure… Well, what else do I have to write about, anyway? 😉

  4. In the Night Garden is a random collection of flashing lights and colours put together by something or other quite possibly on some form of a hallucinogen.

    Children love it though.

  5. I will admit to having watched in the night garden once or twice and by the end of it I felt like I’d been administered some hallucinogenic substances in my drink 😆

  6. Wiggy > It has that effect on me too. And then they follow it up with two cooks, one of whom is really small and rides a flying wooden spoon.
    Riiiiiight.

  7. I’m normally in one of them trances by that time! You know the sort you see in the movies that turns you all zombie like and that Hmmmmmm

  8. I think drugs were involved with most children’s programmes. A purple dinosaur……. there is only one way that somebody came up with that.

  9. If there was ever a kids show developed while the writer was on drugs, it’s the Number Jacks. The Number Taker is just too weird.

  10. Emil > And? I was just wondering, becauzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……

Mrs 6000 > Drugs yes, but I think the NumberTaker was more cocaine-induced rather than the LSD which prompted Night Garden.
