The story of the Labour peer and the waitress?
Both of whom used mobile phones to send text messages while driving.
Both of whom killed innocent individuals by ploughing into the back of their stationary vehicles.

One of whom was given 21 months in prison, the other 12 weeks.

It all seemed a bit unfair, so I was hugely delighted to see the headline on the BBC News Website:

Phone crash sentence under review

In big writing, just like that.

But, guess which one the Solicitor General thinks may be “unduly lenient“…

  1. Just goes to show that if you have enough money, you can buy anything… a peerage, a lesser sentence… need I say more?

  3. HH > Apparently, in Lord Ahmed’s case, the texting and the accident “were unconnected”. So, one has to wonder what he was doing when he swerved into the hard shoulder , cos it certainly wasn’t concentrating on his driving.

    OL > I’d love to enjoy the weekend. Sadly, I will be woken at 5:30am on Sunday by the TV helicopters hovering overhead before being a prisoner in my house all day because of the sodding cyclists.
    My little boy would love to go to the beach… and I’ll have to explain to him why he can’t. I like to start honest education early.
    Still – happy days – 29C in the shade and a 55kph wind should sort a few of them out. 😀 😀 😀
