Sorry for the lack of action on 6000 miles… recently. I’ve had a very sick child, a very pregnant wife and a very lot of rain falling through our kitchen to deal with. You’ve got to love this “life” thing.
Talking of the weather, I’m getting a little fed up of people coming up to me and saying, “You must be used to this rain, coming from the UK!”.
Er… no. I have never seen rain like this. Never so much, so prolonged, so heavy, so sustained. So damn WET!
It’s unbelievable. And it’s cold too. That damp cold that cuts through you like a damp, cold knife.

Apparently they’re forecasting something called “sunshine” for the weekend. I’ll believe it when I see it. (And when I have looked in a dictionary to see what it means).

I was (un)fortunate enough to be in CT when the rain started and boy it was special.
Driving back at 23:00 down from the mountains in mist and a complete sheet of water was extremely uncool. Fun in a bizarre way but not my cup of tea.
But 6k, you must realize that the UK is just one big blob of rain. They couldn’t possibly have weather cycles.

I remember, as a young ‘un, swimming through the back garden in my PJs. In the same way, I’d imagine, your young ‘un is swimming through your kitchen.
Don’t remember it being this cold, though. I’ve resorted to taking a hot water bottle to work. It’s cunningly placed against the backrest of my chair. Brilliant.
@Roni: SA Weather Service don’t seem to think it’s typical. But I like the HWB idea.
@Rob: The worrying thing about the water cycle (I learnt this in Geography at school) is that at some point, all this water is going to go back up into the sky… AND FALL AGAIN!

Now don’t go and disillusion us. Most people say the only reason they don’t immigrate is because they could not handle the weather over there and now you go and do this!

Never mind 6k, it has been raining off and on since weekend, and more to come. Met Office reckons we won’t get much sun this summer at all. Gah!

If it makes you feel any better (I guess not), we’ve had loads of rain over here too. And snow! But, like your weather gurus, ours have predicted sunshine for the weekend. Which is all well and good if it would warm the place up! Melbourne max yesterday was 9 fricking degrees!!!

I was in Qatar – missed it all. It was quite the adjustment to get back into 10 degrees after experiencing a soring temp of 50 degrees!
