First pics

I’ve taken a bit of time out to sift through the [MILLION] photos we’ve taken so far on our Heading North 2012 trip and have popped about 100 onto Flickr.

For friends, family or anyone else that has shown an interest, the London pics are here, the first lot of Disneyland Paris ones here and Alex and my day out in Paris here. There will probably be more added to each of the sets in good time, but I’m tired of playing on Flickr now and I’m going for a beer.

Deal with it.

Tomorrow, tomorrow…

… I’m blogging tomorrow, it’s only a day away.

Have I been in touch? I don’t know, because I’m writing yet another post way in advance.

I’ve checked the Heading North itinerary and we’re supposedly heading back through the Channel Tunnel to Blighty this evening, all of which probably means better connectivity that in France, but potentially not much time to use it in.

Apparently, Eurostar should be getting wifi on board, although on the website, I can only find stuff about connectivity at their stations.

Anyway – the whole tomorrow thing? Normal service , stable ADSL and some proper real-time blogging.

I hope.

Castle II

This is another post not about beer. Sorry.

I mentioned a Castle last week in my quota photo post “Castle“. That Castle was Castle Rushen in Castletown, Isle of Man, which overlooks Castletown harbour, which is where I will be taking part in the WTBC next week. Still with me?

Anyway, that aside, almost immediately after seeing my Castle post, Flickr Blog did a Castle post of their own (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery):

Obviously, that’s not Castle Rushen – look at those vast tracts of land with not a harbour in sight. In fact, this is Boldogköváralja in Hungary, although interestingly, both castles were constructed simultaneously in the 12th and 13th Centuries.

Actually, I’m not sure how interesting that is, but here are some nice photos of Boldogköváralja.

I will endeavour to get you some nice pictures of Castle Rushen to go with them. Watch this space.

Open Your Eyes

Some Snow Patrol, I think. Not because this blog is anything to do with Grey’s Anatomy (who love Snow Patrol rather too much) – we’re far more dramatic (and medically plausible) than that. No, some Snow Patrol because this video for Open Your Eyes features Paris, which is where I should be arriving this afternoon.

Yes, I’m writing this post way in advance and yes, this sort of thing has gone horribly wrong before with European capital city trips.

Incidentally, we at 6000 miles… in no way condone the reckless behaviour of the driver in this video, but we do still think the idea is pretty cool and we do wish that we could give something like this a go one day in Cape Town.

For those interested, the film used is called C’était un Rendezvous (“It was a date”) and was filmed by Claude Lelouch in 1976.
Here’s the wiki.
