A reminder

We had a minor break-in at our house on Thursday, which capped a completely crap week off just perfectly (hence the lack of blogging). I don’t really want to go into it, but suffice to say that it really was the final icing on the coffin which broke the camels back.

So it was nice to take advantage of the stunning weekend weather to take the boy up for a run on the local school field. We sat there for a while, enjoying the view and eating jelly and custard in somewhat sombre introspection*.
Then the sprinklers came on and he made a dash for it.

20 minutes later we returned home, both soaking wet but still somehow covered in an implausible amount of custard.

It’s amazing how one little thing can swing your whole mood around. It was a reminder that whatever bad things life throws at you, watching your 2 year old son giggling uncontrollably as you both succumb to several hundred litres of high pressure water can sort all your woes out…

 * I did anyway. He sat there eating jelly and custard via osmosis.

  1. Bad things happen in South Africa? Unheard of!

And don’t you just hate how they misbehave and make you angry and then 30 seconds later they’re soooo cute that you want to hug them to death…

  2. Hee hee. The death grip on burglars me thinks.

Yeah, my daughter does the same thing for me. Last week she scared me senseless by tussling with a moving car. But the first thing she said when she woke up took my fear and tossed it out the window.

Sorry about the burglary. I hope you are all OK.

  3. Bridget (1) – Tussling with a moving car? Jeez!
No. My boy ran across some fields and got a bit damp.

Bridget (2) – Yippee. Apparently I got 15 votes. 14 of them from you. Excellent. Thank you.

Koosh – He’s pretty nippy for a nipper.

  4. Sorry to hear about the burglary.

Congratulations on the awards. (Hoping a wooden spoon is winging its way to Australia as I type)

  5. hope the bastards can’t flog the swag they stole off you. globus concurs that 2 yr olds are great at brightening the mood. mini globus (2.5 yrs old) is always being cute and amusing which helps enormously. in fact, with girly globus (3 mths old) full of reflux and colic, mini globus is a healthy reminder of why it can be great having kids. happy days.

  6. Bridget – Now the cat is out of the bag, you can vote for me 14 times too!

Stan – The Stormers have already reserved the wooden spoon which was destined for Australia.

globus – Like I said, it was a minor thing. Just very annoying at the end of a long and uber crappy week.
How come every second child which is a girl has colic/reflux issues? Now I am very, very worried.

  7. 6k, globus expects it’s more to do with wimmin being higher maintenance – even in infancy. when’s yours due again?
